Deal with the tacky music

Billy Mack (Bill Nighy), the ï¬lm’s aging rock star, is the ultimate pessimist. He has to market his cover of Love Is All Around Us as a Christmas jingle, as per his label’s instruction. As cranky as he is, he manages to have fun with it and make it his own (by swearing and making cruel jokes along the way, sure, but still). If you ï¬nd Christmas music annoying and depressing, then that’s too bad. Unless you plan on not going shopping, not listening to the radio, and not going to any restaurant until January, then you have no way around it. It’s not doing you any good letting it get you down. The best way to handle this is to go the If you can’t beat ˜em¦join ˜em route. Crank the tunes and sing along, and keep in mind that soon you won’t have to hear it again for another year. ¨
