There’s still a sliver of hope for this show, there just has to be. The subject matter was heavy: childhood friends who’d been assaulted at the hands of a filthy warden at a detention facility. The kids have since reunited decades later and are seeking revenge after one of their squad is killed. The show was loosely based on the movie Sleepers. According to Deadline, the show wasn’t pulling in the numbers, particularly in the 18-49 live/same-day ratings. At least Shades of Blue got a second season, and let’s just hope NBC’s newest drama This Is Us makes an imprint after losing such a gem.
