Another return to the scene in 2016 was funnyman Chris Rock. Rock opened the Emmys with a monologue that called the industry “sorority racist” and while it wasn’t “fetch me some lemonade” racist, it was still indeed racist. He also made sure to tackle the whole boycotting of the Emmys by black artists including Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett, which left a bit of an unsettling vibe, but that’s Chris Rock for you. Even so, hearing Chris Rock’s voice again, on such a coveted stage was a nice treat for 2016.
