If an escape to Europe is what you need, London may be your best bet. Again, no language barrier makes things easier, especially if you’re a first-time solo traveler, and the underground is quite simple to navigate, even for the directionally challenged. There’s plenty to see and do in London (day-long trips to Selfridges and Topshop Oxford Circus, anyone?) and thanks to the numerous parks, gardens and free museums, you can use that money saved on those Chelsea boots you’ve been eyeing.
