[tps_header]When I moved from one country to another earlier this summer, my mother tried to sneak all seven\u00a0box set DVDS of Gilmore Girls<\/em> into my luggage. If that isn’t proof that I was raised on this show, then I don’t know what is. That being said, who Rory Gilmore ends up with in the Net\u00ef\u00ac\u201aix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life<\/em> reboot is very, very important to me. I have a lot of feelings on this topic but have also done a lot of research. Therefore, here is both my conclusion and my reasoning for said conclusion, conducted through the process of elimination. Please hold all commenting and questions until the end. I am right and you are wrong.[\/tps_header]<\/p>\n

Why she won’t end up with Logan<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"rory-and-logan\"<\/p>\n

Rory and Logan’s relationship was doomed from the start. He made Rory feel like she had to be “okay” with a non-exclusive relationship, which never has been her vibe and never will be. She had to adjust major parts of her personality just to make their relationship work, and that wasn’t okay with Rory and that wasn’t okay with us.<\/p>\n

If it weren’t for Logan, Rory never would have stolen a boat or dropped out of Yale. Rory becomes as arrogant as he is, due to Logan’s in\u00ef\u00ac\u201auence and lavish lifestyle. The major warning sign from me was hearing Rory exclaim But I’m a Gilmore!\u009d in disbelief when the Huntzberger family said she wasn’t good enough for him. Besides–he proposed to her in the penultimate episode and she said no, so that’s that.<\/p>\n

Why she won’t end up with Dean<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"rory-and-dean\"<\/p>\n

Dean sucked. Sure, he was a good \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst boyfriend, but so what? My \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst boyfriend was exactly like Dean. Super-sweet, but the moment you realize you’ve outgrown them and cut \u02dcem loose, they become whiny, jealous, \u00ef\u00ac\u201aoppy-haired man-babies. And then Dean got even worse. He cheated on his wife Lindsay and took Rory’s virginity in one fell swoop. Two wrongs don’t make a right, two wrongs make you die alone wearing a Doose’s Market apron. In case you need more convincing, David Sutcliffe (the dreamboat DILF otherwise known as Christopher) fully let it slip to Vanity Fair<\/a>\u00a0that Dean doesn’t end up with his daughter. Whoops!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Why she won’t end up with Marty<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were rooting for Marty for a long time. We watched him nervously approach Rory in the dining hall after the initial “Naked Guy” encounter. We watched him thoughtfully bring over leftovers from his catering gig to watch Duck Soup. We watched him sulk when she started dating Logan. We watched Marty’s role on the show \u00ef\u00ac\u0081zzle out, hoping he’d one day return to whisk her off her feet and out of the friend-zone. But then Marty went and ruined his chances forever by lying to girlfriend Lucy about knowing Rory in the \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst place, and then drunkenly hitting on Rory soon after.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Why she won’t end up with somebody new<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"rory-and-trevor\"<\/p>\n

Remember when Rory tried going on a date with her classmate Trevor, and they ended up on the same side of a booth at an Italian restaurant? That’s why. Rory hates casual dating. The series ended with Rory turning down an engagement so she could focus on her career. She’s not the type of person who will bother going on \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst date after \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst date until she meets the “right” guy, she’ll be spending any of her limited free time visiting Lorelai and loved ones. Plus fans would be absolutely devastated.<\/p>\n

Why she WILL end up with Jess<\/strong><\/p>\n

You probably guessed it by now–we’re not just crossing our \u00ef\u00ac\u0081ngers for Jess, but we’re convinced that he’s going to end up with Rory. Here’s why.<\/p>\n

1. Their chemistry and sexual tension was insane. Rory and Dean were always awkwardly pecking at each other, and you only ever really saw Rory and Logan lounging together in bed after sex. But Rory and Jess couldn’t keep their hands off each other, because they had wanted one another for so long. They would meet up whenever they had a few spare minutes just to make out and suck face and be together. It was the most passionate relationship she had, even if she was young and it was short-lived. Jess is also the only boyfriend of Rory’s that she never slept with, so she must be saving the best for last.<\/p>\n

2. He fought for her. Not in a creepy I’ve won you\u009d way, but in a I’ll wait until you’re ready\u009d way. He didn’t care that she had a boyfriend. He won her basket at the auction, jumped onto a moving horse carriage, created a fake care package from Luke just to spend an evening with her, and even sat through a dance marathon just to make it clear that he wasn’t going anywhere or giving up.<\/p>\n

3. He never got over her. A year after he skipped town, he came back to Stars Hollow to tell Rory that he loved her, and begged her to run away with him. HOW ROMANTIC IS THAT? You can hear the pain in his voice when he tries to explain why he left and how he wasn’t ready: “You know we’re supposed to be together. I knew it the \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst time I saw you two years ago, and you know it too. I know you do.” That line destroys me every single time. Even years later, when she’s with Logan and she’s a total mess, he still can’t resist kissing her. They’re drawn to one another, timing just hasn’t been right\u00a6yet.<\/p>\n

4. He grew up. Rory met Jess during a really, really bad point in his life. Jess had just been abandoned by his mother, after being abandoned by his father years before that. He was in a new town, thrown into a new life that he didn’t know how to deal with. He was angry, and rightfully so. He made a lot of judgments in error while living in Stars Hallow, which he grew out of. But when he was ready, Rory wasn’t ready. And when he was ready again, Rory was in a relationship. Timing just wasn’t right. But there’s been 10 years since, and we’re sure timing must’ve been right at least once during that. The last we heard from Jess was in season 6, after writing a book and starting his own “tiny publishing house” in Philadelphia. He made his dreams come true, and credited Rory to being the pushing force he needed to get there. Her in\u00ef\u00ac\u201auence on him made a lasting, positive change on his entire life. If he was able to go from a high school \u00ef\u00ac\u201aunk-out to a published author and business owner, imagine what 10 additional years could do?! Jess is totally going to be a banging hot 30-something publishing mogul, and Rory and him are going to be sharing a beautiful apartment together in NYC, and it’s going to be the best. DREAM TEAM.<\/p>\n

6. He genuinely cares about her. His tough demeanour and rough attitude when the pair dated was a defense mechanism. The kid had some serious abandonment issues which caused him to bail before he could get hurt\u201dunfair to Rory at the time, yes, but something he grew out of and clearly regretted. After the car accident in season 2, we see Jess show emotion, real emotion, for the \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst time\u00a6 and it’s about Rory. His voice cracks when he says to Luke, “I made sure she was okay.” As the years passed, that never changed. Seasons later, he showed his concern and genuine care for Rory when he shows up and \u00ef\u00ac\u0081nds out she’s dropped out of Yale. He doesn’t coddle her like everybody else (except for Lorelai) does. Instead he says, “I know you. I know you better than anyone. This isn’t you.”<\/p>\n

7. He’s Rory’s intellectual counterpart. The \u00ef\u00ac\u0081rst thing Rory and him \u00ef\u00ac\u201airted over? A book. Rory made a reference to Oliver Twist and Jess picked up on it immediately. He was the only boyfriend that was able to keep up with her quick wit, and their shared love of books, music and culture makes the longevity of their relationship more feasible.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Good thing I’ve got that covered, too. In an on-set Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life<\/em> interview<\/a>\u00a0with actor Milo Ventimiglia, you can spot the gazebo in the background\u00a6 which is decorated for fall. Each episode in the 4-part revival is dedicated to a season, and autumn is the fourth\u00a0one, meaning Jess will be around when the series is ending. Dean’s shown here too, but David Sutcliffe’s big mouth cancels that out. Even Jared Padalecki said<\/a>* just last year that he’s Team Jess\u009d. Same, Dean.
