ICYMI, Toronto Fashion Week is back in action this week, showcasing the spring 2019 collections from Canada\u2019s top designers. In between catching the fashion shows<\/a>, you can find us backstage hanging out with makeup pro Simone Otis and her squad of makeup artists with beautyBoutique<\/a>\u00a0by Shoppers Drug Mart to give you daily recaps of our favourite makeup looks. Kicking off the week, here are our fave looks from day two.<\/p>\n

Alex S. Yu: A Fresh Pop of Yellow<\/strong>
\n\"\"
\nOtis loves Alex S. Yu’s clothing and describes the designer as someone who is super fun and edgy. So reflect the vibe of his most recent collection, Otis created this bright yellow eye look. “We\u2019re doing this yellow kind of scribble that’s almost like a graphic <\/span>whoosh<\/span><\/i>,” explains Otis. The look consists of warm perfect skin and no mascara to keep the attention on the eyes. To bring the look to another level, Otis finished the look by glueing\u00a0down the brows with Elmer’s glue in their natural direction for shine and definition without having to fill them in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Get the look: Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush in Nectar<\/a> ($30), Smashbox Cover Shot Palette in Sunlit<\/a> ($35)<\/p>\n

Tara Rivas: Glitter Eyes
\n\"\"<\/strong>
\nTara Rivas wanted to create an edgy makeup look with an after-the-party kind of feel. \u00a0So both Rivas and Otis had the idea of doing glitter on the eyes. Using Stila’s Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow, Otis swiped on a bit of product directly across the lids. “We\u2019re not making it perfect, because if it was perfect it would feel too unattainable,” she explains. Each look was customed to each model eye shape. The key to this look is still seeing a peek of glitter on the lids even when eyes are open. Otis finished the eyes by coating the top lashes with mascara.<\/span><\/p>\n

Get the look: Stila Glittle & Glow Eyeshadow in Diamond Dust<\/a>\u00a0($31), Elizabeth Arden Standing Ovation Mascara in Intense Black<\/a> ($33)<\/p>\n

Hayley Elsaesser: Oil-slicked
\n\"\"
\n<\/strong>Hayley Elsaesser came to Otis with the idea of someone swimming into the ocean and getting caught in all the garbage, primarily the waste from clothing and fabric. Super excited and inspired by the idea, Otis created this oil-slicked eye look by using a luminous eyeshadow with tints of green, rust and purple on the lids. For the skin, Otis advised her team to use foundation shades slightly darker than the models’ natural complexion and bronzer(!) to emphasize a real sun-kissed look. Lastly, a thread was applied to the side\u00a0of the face. “This look is so fun!\u00a0 So her hair [the model] is going to have bits of plastic bag in it \u2014 it\u2019s still very pretty \u2014 and this thread represents someone coming out of the ocean and it\u2019s just stuck to them,” says Otis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Get the look: Shiseido Shimmering Eye Cream in BL620<\/a>\u00a0($32), Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Lounge<\/a>\u00a0($25), Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer<\/a> ($38)<\/p>\n

WRKDEPT: Club Kid Glam
\n<\/strong>For WRKDEPT, Otis wanted to create three fun, bold looks: a wiped-off lip, an Alexander McQueen inspired exaggerated overdrawn fuchsia\u00a0lip and a vibrant eyeliner look. For a last-minute touch, Otis thought it would fun to place dots on the models’ faces. “These looks are all about not taking yourself so seriously. It still looks gorgeous even though it’s still a bit of a mess,” she explains.<\/p>\n

\nTo give the look a more abstract effect, Otis used three lipstick shades to create this wiped-off lip.<\/p>\n

Get the look: Smashbox Liquid Lip in Teal With It<\/a> and Ultra Violet<\/a>\u00a0($28), Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bella<\/a>\u00a0($29)<\/p>\n

\nFor this vibrant eyeliner look, Otis winged\u00a0green eyeliner along the upper lash line and then applied blue eyeliner to outline the crease of the eye. To keep the attention on the colours of the face, brows were kept natural and lips were coated with a bit of balm.<\/p>\n

Get the look: Chanel Stylo Yeux Eyeliner 938<\/a> ($35), Urban Decay Eyeliner in Chaos<\/a>\u00a0($25), RMS Beauty Lip & Skin Balm Simply Vanilla<\/a>\u00a0($31)<\/p>\n

To create this overdrawn lip, Otis advised her team to aim for an oval shape. To add definition to the lips, highlight was added to the models’ natural lip line.<\/p>\n

Get the look: Stila Heaven’s Hue Highlighter<\/a>\u00a0($42), Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bella<\/a> ($29),\u00a0Stila Stay All Day Lip Liner in Sangria<\/a>\u00a0($26).<\/p>\n
