Lady Gaga<\/a> is already famous (understatement) for her style, music and avant-garde tendencies, but after recent interviews she’s quickly becoming famous for her strong words and avocation of celibacy. <\/p>\n

(Surprising for a woman who proudly flaunts her sexuality \u201c but refreshing that she has something other to say than generic PR-programmed press releases.  Am I right?)<\/p>\n

Encouraging people not to have sex, Gaga went on to say that it’s okay to be whomever you want to be.  You don’t have to have sex to feel good about yourself, and if you’re not ready, don’t do it.  And if you are ready, there are free condoms given away at my concerts when you’re leaving . . . It’s not really cool to have sex all the time.  It’s cooler to be strong and independent.\u009d<\/p>\n

And as if advocating independence and free-thinking isn’t enough, she’s also taken an avid anti-HIV stance (as she should), which also explains her recent declarations.<\/p>\n

Is it me or does it seem like every time Lady Gaga can’t get any cooler, she does?  Not that condoning celibacy makes someone better than anyone else, but the fact that she encourages women (and men) to make decisions for themselves as opposed to seeking validation definitely trumps the pop star campaign of the early 2000’s. <\/p>\n
