Here's the thing about Zooey Deschanel: she's underestimated because society is the worst. But gilfriend's been acting for longer than you or I have been able to attend 14A movies (see: Almost Famous), is starring in her own wildly successful comedy series, filmed three movies over the course of the year, founded Hello Giggles in 2011, and has designd a capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger. Ultimately, she is a force.<\/p>\n

But it bothers her (as much as it does me, and I'm sure you) that she's thought of a "sweet" or "not independent" and\/or "dying to have kids."<\/p>\n

"Like every woman is dying to give birth!" she says in the August issue of InStyle. "I don't think so. Nobody asks guys that. And you go into every supermarket, and every tabloid is like, 'Pregnant and Alone!' Stuck in the 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. This brings out the fiery feminist of me."<\/p>\n

Hell. Yes.<\/p>\n

And don't expect her to turn into a token celebrity, either.<\/p>\n

"I've seen a lot of people turn — sometimes [celebrity] unlocks who they are," she continues. "They turn into celebrities who are separate from themselves. That's okay, but I just don't want to be like that. I have<\/em> to be normal. My mother wouldn't let me be any other way."<\/p>\n

Preach. And if you are <\/em>a celebrity reporter, let the record state: women don't have to have kids. If they do, that's their call (obviously). But here's to more public figures like Deschanel venting their frustrations about a whacked-out system.<\/p>\n
