Alright everybody pay close attention because I'm only going to say this once: Rihanna is the new creative director of Puma, and yes, she is better than us.<\/p>\n

According to WWD, the singer will oversee the direction of the womenswear line, and join Usain Bolt and Mario Balotelli as brand ambassador. Yesterday marked her first official creative director meeting in Germany, and now all of us will be just as excited to wear Puma as we were back in grade eight when those really cool kids wore Puma. (Remember that? The oversize t-shirts? Do you think she'll bring those back? Because I hope so. I can afford one now.)<\/p>\n

But the thing is, this isn't some one-year "we did it, guys!" development: Rihanna has signed a "multi-year" deal with the company, and will take a "hands-on" approach to Puma's fitness and training collections as well as shoes. She will also, according to Puma, work with the brand to "design and customize classic Puma styles as well as create new styles to add to the Puma product portfolio."<\/p>\n

"Signing Rihanna is a fantastic step for Puma," said Bjorn Gulden, Puma's chief executive officer. "Her global profile, her charisma and individuality, her ambition — all these things make her a perfect brand ambassador for our brand. With a strong portfolio in football, running, and motorsport, finding an inspiring partner for women's training was very important. Rihanna was a natural choice for us. We're delighted to have her as a partner, and we're looking forward to what's to come."<\/p>\n

And a reminder, if you can<\/em> read this Rihanna, please bring back those oversize shirts from 1998. You know the ones I'm talking about.<\/p>\n
