The Age of Ultron\u009d comes clean<\/i><\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

It got a little hectic on the Internet this week when Joss Whedon quit Twitter and everybody blamed angry feminists. (Seriously: aspects of Avengers: Age of Ultron<\/i> are admittedly disappointing, and some fans took their criticism way too far when the harassment and death threats began to fly. Which, let’s state for the millionth time, is 100% what feminism is not<\/i> about.)<\/p>\n

However, Whedon recently told Buzzfeed the truth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That is horeshit,\u009d he said on Tuesday. Believe me, I have been attacked by militant feminists since I got on Twitter. That’s something I’m used to. Every breed of feminism is attacking every other breed, and every subsection of liberalism is always busy attacking another subsection of liberalism, because God forbid they should all band together and actually fight for the cause.\u009d<\/p>\n

(Alright, well . . . I mean there are reasons behind scrutiny and in-fighting but that’s not what this piece is about, so let’s continue in agreeance and there’s way more to that story.)<\/p>\n

I saw a lot of people say, \u02dcThe social justice warriors destroyed one of their own!’ It’s like, Nope. That didn’t happen,\u009d the director continued. I saw someone tweet it’s because Feminist Frequency pissed on Avengers 2<\/i>, which for all I know they may have. But literally the second person to write me to ask if I was okay when I dropped out out was [Feminist Frequency founder] Anita [Sarkeesian].\u009d<\/p>\n

Cool. So why did<\/i> he quit, then? Easy: peace of mind.<\/p>\n

I just thought, \u02dcWait a minute, if I’m going to start writing again, I have to go to the quiet place, and this is the least quiet place I’ve ever been in my life.’\u009d<\/p>\n

Which, well, fair. Especially since he told Buzzfeed that he’d consider coming back — maybe. Like, in time. . . . Perhaps.<\/p>\n
