The magazine is known for placing beautiful (and often scantily clad women) on the cover. Having the actor on the cover for the biggest issue of the year is certainly a sign that the magazine is headed in a new direction.<\/p>\n<p><em>Maxim<\/em>\u00a0has been undergoing a bit of a re-branding since editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear, jumped on board. The men&#8217;s magazine is now focusing a little less on hot chicks and more on fashion.\u00a0&#8220;We&#8217;ve never in US\u00a0<em>Maxim<\/em> history had a man on the cover solo,&#8221; Lanphear said in an interview with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.racked.com\/2015\/8\/4\/9093997\/maxim-september-idris-elba\" target=\"_blank\">Racked<\/a><\/em>. &#8220;This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more bad ass than Idris.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We couldn&#8217;t agree more. The actor looks more handsome\u00a0and bad ass than ever in a black leopard print coat in front of a dark grey background.
