Brace yourselves: This year, festival-goers can expect what is rumoured to be the best festival season yet. Each year more events and artists are added to the lineup and music-lovers everywhere (including myself) couldn’t be happier. In preparation for the many festivals we plan on attending, we’ve scoured the internet to come up with some new outfit inspiration\u00a0to get us through the festival circuit–or at least create a good #ootd post.<\/p>\n

In addition to the classic festival pieces like\u00a0bell bottoms and vintage floral skirts and dresses, there are certain necessary additions to the pile that we need to make. These pieces are edgier than the boho chic influences we have seen in recent years. For 2016, we’re seeing a regeneration of the classic rock style of the ’60s and early-’70s, so keep Stevie Nicks and this list in mind when shopping for your new essentials.<\/p>\n

1. Nasty Gal B-Low the Belt Bri Bri Leather Belt<\/a>, $288<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enter the badlands with a western-style leather belt. A great belt can change any outfit and this one is popping up all over the place.\u00a0Throw it over your old floral skirt or your kick-ass denim cut offs, the added detail in the bulky buckle will add a twist to those old pieces that we both know you’ve been photographed in before. The bigger, the heavier, the better.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0ASOS Tick Tock Clog Sandals<\/a>,\u00a0$74<\/strong><\/p>\n

I know, I know. Platform shoes are nothing new, but they are just such a great addition to most outfits and work particularly well for the edgy rock music-inspired festival style we’ll be seeing this year. Either by reinvention or creation, there’s large rock n roll influence here. Platform’s are perfect for the occasion, they’re easy to walk in, and trendy and they definitely keep with the 2016 rocker girl look.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0ASOS Western Frame Choker Necklace<\/a>, $23<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ever since I was old enough to accessorize I’ve prayed for the return of the choker. Well, I am happy to finally say that the choker is here, and it’s here to stay, so take this opportunity to spice up your collection with the many different takes on the choker. The metal and turquoise details add to the southwestern feel, so feel free to pair this with that cute hat and get ready to rock out.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0ASOS Centre Stage Flower Headband<\/a>, $28<\/strong><\/p>\n

The flower crown is an oldie, but always a goodie. It’s been done and then done again, but if you’re not quite ready to say goodbye, we totally understand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you’re one of those people who are over the classic flower crown, then try giving them a refresh this year and grab your cat ears from Halloween. Not only will they be huge this year, but they’re also super-easy to DIY if you’re a fan of crafts. If you’re like me and can’t DIY to save your life, Etsy has tons of options to choose from–and even some that will cost less than your beer.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Ray-Ban Round Light Ray Sunglasses<\/a>, $255<\/strong><\/p>\n

A necessary piece for any festival. A day in the direct sunlight can really harm your eyes, not to mention give you wrinkles. Protect your eyes and look super-cute in the process with these round shades. The black is classic, but the round shape adds a bit of extra cool factor. If you want to get really crazy, get them in yellow<\/a> instead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0Forever 21 Southwestern-Inspired Fedora<\/a>, $30<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hats, hats, everywhere! To be honest those extra large brim fedoras just got in the way–no one wants to lug one of those around while listening to their favourite music. Luckily for us, a shorter-brim fedora is now in style. It’s protects you from the sun and looks stylish in the process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0American Eagle Hi-Rise Festival Shortie<\/a>, $45<\/strong><\/p>\n

Denim cut-offs are nothing new, but let’s be honest, you should really buy a new pair every year.
