With new seasons of our favourite shows premiering all summer, like\u00a0Marco Polo<\/em>,\u00a0Mistresses<\/em>,\u00a0Mr. Robot<\/em>\u00a0and a new season of\u00a0Bachelor in Paradise<\/em>\u00a0beginning in August, you can be sure that you’re won’t go totally stir-crazy on those relentless rainy days. So YAY for new TV, but boo to having to wait for it. If you’re getting a little impatient waiting for\u00a0Game of Thrones<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to come out every week, why not take a trip back to our absolute favourite time for nostalgia: the ’90s and early ’00s. Here are seven of our favourite ’90s and ’00s shows to marathon<\/a> this summer.\u00a0[\/tps_header]<\/p>\n

Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"buffy\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Buffy\u00a0<\/em>was a show with intentions that preceded its time. It does what shows like\u00a0Supergirl\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Jessica Jones<\/em>\u00a0aim to do now, by depicting\u00a0a female protagonist who’s strong\u00a0and\u00a0independent (and don’t\u00a0need no man!), Buffy is also purposefully flawed, and humanizing the flaws in our female characters is what good TV is all about (see:\u00a0Orange is the New Black<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0Love<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Girls<\/em>). Sarah Michelle Gellar kills it as Buffy, and we don’t hate the choreographed musical episode in the sixth season either. If you’ve got it, flaunt it, right?<\/p>\n

Freaks and Geeks<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"freaks<\/a><\/p>\n

With its cast, chock-full of riotous comedic geniuses, including\u00a0James Franco, Jason Segel and Seth Rogan (not to mention the cameos! Baby Shia LaBeouf, anyone?) and\u00a0Judd Apatow directing, it’s a wonder Freaks and Geeks <\/em>only lasted a year.\u00a0Perhaps the show’s humour was before it’s time; whatever the reason for its demise, this singular season is worth a watch for the outfits alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"fresh<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the years, Will Smith has played a bevy of diverse and challenging characters, but let’s jump back 25 years or so\u00a0when he played perhaps his most iconic role: himself. This\u00a0light, goofy comedy reminds us of a simpler time.\u00a0Had too many homemade martinis last night?\u00a0\u00a0Let Will, Carlton, Uncle Phil, Aunt Viv, Ashley and Hilary remedy your bubbling tummy and achy head.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Boy Meets World<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ABC's<\/a><\/p>\n

Boy Meets World\u00a0<\/em>was so missed that they had to make a spinoff,\u00a0Girl Meets World.\u00a0<\/em>That should be reason enough to start downloading! This show was special in that it grew up with its viewers. From high school to college, this sweet and wholesome blast-from-the-past reminds us of childhood and is the perfect antidote to rainy day boredom.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Charmed<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"charmed\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Before there were vampires, zombies and white walkers, there were witches. Nearly two decades after the show’s debut, it still has a loyal following (but whether this following is under some sort of spell is unconfirmed). If you like Harry Potter-esque hocus pocus, female kinship and don’t mind a healthy dose of WB cheesiness,\u00a0Charmed\u00a0<\/em>is definitely worth a (re)watch.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sex and the City<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"satc\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Okay, I’ll begrudgingly admit it, Sex and the City<\/em>\u00a0is a grossly inaccurate depiction of life as a single thirtysomething in New York\u00a0or any city for that matter. No, sleeping around\u00a0that\u00a0<\/em>much is not realistic and nobody really pays you to write enough to fill that closet, but so long as we are aware that the show is nothing more than a far-reaching fairytale, Carry Bradshaw and her friends are the perfect accompaniment to a day where you don’t feel like un-burrito-ing yourself from your duvet.<\/p>\n

Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"TCDFRIE<\/a><\/p>\n

Perfect for those hangover days that leave you in the kind of funk that makes you want to rethink your entire life,\u00a0Friends<\/em>\u00a0is that show you can marathon until the actual end of time; (because who ever gets tired of Joey’s a cappella rendition of “In The Jungle”).\u00a0Friends\u00a0<\/em>is the feel-good gift that keeps on giving, with ten seasons where NOT A SINGLE ONE of the main characters gets killed off.\u00a0Hallelujah.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
