If you weren’t paying attention, how dare you, but I’m here today to fill you in: yesterday, Beyonce won the CFDA awards.<\/p>\n

Like first, she won the literal CFDA Fashion Icon Award, presented by Diane Von Furstenberg (fahncy). And second, she walked the red carpet with Jay Z and Blue Ivy.<\/p>\n

But first, the award. Here’s how her speech went:<\/p>\n

“I feel so much love and I feel so proud right now,” she said, wearing a pinstriped Givenchy suit, because of course. “Thank you guys for this incredible honour.”<\/p>\n

“As long as I can remember, fashion has always been a part of my life,” she continued. “Its effect on me actually started before I was born.\u00a0Most of you guys don’t know this, but my grandmother was a seamstress. My grandparents did not have enough money, they could not afford my mother’s Catholic school tuition. So my grandmother sewed clothes for the priests and the nuns and made the uniform for the students in exchange for my mother’s education.”<\/p>\n

And then:<\/p>\n

“When we were starting out in Destiny’s Child, high-end labels, they didn’t really want to dress four black country curvy girls,”\u00a0Queen Bey added. “And we couldn’t afford designer dresses and couture. My mother was rejected from every showroom in New York. But like my grandmother, she used her talent and her creativity to give her children their dreams.\u00a0When I wore these clothes on stage, I felt like Khaleesi.”<\/p>\n

And no you’re crying, I’m not crying, don’t look at me. You can actually watch the whole thing here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Plus, making it more emotional was the addition of Blue Ivy and Jay, who was arguably overshadowed by his daughter who already knows how to work the red carpet better than 99.9% of all adults<\/a>. Meaning this event was a family affair and also everything’s fine (I guess?) and most importantly, we will never know the Bey-Jay truth because they owe us nothing, so I’m just going to sit back and accept what they show me.<\/p>\n
