Both females and males are catapulted into the spotlight and whether they’re good or evil, or both, it’s hard not to give credit to those unforgettable names that we can always treasure. Here are 10 staple roles that should never fade our memory.[\/tps_header]<\/p>\n

Eleven from Stranger Things<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Eleven<\/a><\/p>\n

Just in case you’ve been asleep for the past couple of months, a new ’80s-themed show called Stranger Things<\/em> has become this summer’s biggest obsession. One of the main characters is shaved-headed Eleven, a girl that everyone is trying to catch. Played by 12-year-old Milly Bobby Brown, not only does Eleven have otherworldly powers that can move objects and knock the crap out of people instantly if she wants, but she’s a girl after our own heart\u201dwho doesn’t crave boxes of Eggos? She even makes nosebleeds look cool.<\/p>\n

Jessica Jones <\/strong>from<\/strong>\u00a0Jessica Jones<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"Jessica<\/a><\/p>\n

Krysten Ritter was meant to play the protagonist in Marvel’s Jessica Jones<\/em>. Unapologetic, tough, blunt, hilarious and a crusader against evil, Jessica Jones has no problem telling you off while smiling into your soul. Her past is as dark as her all-black coats and she doesn’t shy from keeping her fight on, even if it is shooting the man she has feelings for\u201dit’s complicated. Ritter’s performance is so convincing too, that’s what makes the character actually relatable and someone we’d definitely like on our side. Just make sure she has her whiskey traveler or you’ll be getting more than some side eye.<\/p>\n

Ari Gold from Entourage<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Ari<\/a><\/p>\n

Ari Gold doesn’t take shit from anyone, and he’ll be the first to screw you over if you try to mess with him and his boys. His love-hate relationship with his assistant, Lloyd (played by Rex Lee) puts office politics in hilarious focus. He’s razor-sharp, loyal and lacks a filter, and that’s why his character will be forever remembered. Do yourself a favour and take 12 minutes to relive these memorable moments<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hank Moody from Californication<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Hank<\/a><\/p>\n

David Duchovney played the believer in X-Files<\/em>, a role that highlighted his anti-establishment mentality, one that is also present throughout seven seasons of Californaication<\/em>. Not everyone can pen a book called God Hates Us All<\/em> and have it succeed, and it’s his dry wit and sarcasm that makes Mr. Moody a dysfunctional, sexually charged charmer that is highly addictive to watch. At the core he is introspective and although he rarely makes the safe decision, he somehow finds his way and shows us that life isn’t a linear path. In his own words: Things fall apart. They Break. That’s life.\u009d<\/p>\n

Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Buffy\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/em> had a stack of tough characters, from Faith to Willow to Spike to Giles (remember this episode<\/a>?), but no one beats the original slayer herself. Sarah Michelle Gellar knew how to turn on the sass and athletic skill, eliminating evil threats left and right. Her late night excursions, full of dedication and sometimes disaster, showed generations of teenage girls that being strong mentally and physically is very important. The show also sought to eliminate the notion of damsels in distress,\u009d instead showing strong, independent women that can fight their own battles. Gellar initially auditioned for the role of Cordelia, but it was the show’s creator, Josh Whedon, who felt she would better suit the lead role, beating out Selma Blair and Katie Holmes for the part.<\/p>\n

Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Blair<\/a><\/p>\n

Enter\u00a0Upper East Side’s queen, Blair Waldorf<\/a>. Is it any wonder she and Chuck Bass (a.k.a. motherchucker\u009d) had quite possibly the most tumultuous yet heartfelt relationship in recent TV memory? Stylish and salacious, Blair had her mignons, Dora and her bestie Serena by her side, but even when she was alone her mind was always thinking about the next fish to fry. Sure, she may not have won the award for most humbled person, but why would she care about that anyway? As she so poignantly boasts, You can’t make people love you, but you can make them fear you.\u009d XOXO.<\/p>\n

Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

There really can’t be a list of badasses without the inclusion of SOA<\/em> leader, Jax Teller. Played by Charlie Hunnam, Jax was the blonde beauty that was loyal to the game, specifically the street game. His voice may not have been the loudest, but when he spoke everyone listened and it was this quiet confidence that saw him holding the reigns for seven intense seasons. Not afraid to shed tears, it’s scenes like this<\/a> that remind you the strength of Hunnam’s acting skill, and why he’s such a compelling character, one full of\u00a0wisdom and realism.<\/p>\n

Annalise Keating from How To Get Away With Murder<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"VIOLA<\/a><\/p>\n

What do you get when you put Shonda Rhimes in the driver’s seat of programming? Answer: strong female roles rip through your TV screen, that’s what. The tenacious woman at the centre of the show is the conniving lawyer, Annalise Keating, played by Viola Davis. She is the definition of a mastermind and Davis even won an Emmy for her performance. With season three less than a month away, fans have been anticipating what’s next for Ms. Keating and her legal practicing crew, and even Davis told Deadline <\/em><\/a>that they can’t figure out the upcoming season’s mystery, which is said to be exposed in the first episode (September 22). When it comes to a no-BS boss face, Annalise Keating is who we should aspire to be because why the hell not? You’re going to argue with this?<\/p>\n

Now for today’s most important question: who would you put your money on between Annalise Keating, Buffy Summers and Cookie? Cookie is another character we’ve desperately needed on television, a person that pushes through the day her way. And, if she wants to spend her money on clothes then she’s damn well going to. The woman even went to\u00a0jail just to protect her\u00a0family. She truly lives up to the family’s last name (Lyon) and is the mother that will do anything for her cubs.\u00a0Anything<\/em>. Plus, where would we be today without Bye Felicia,\u009d one of her many quintessential zings from the show.<\/p>\n

Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Love her or hate her (how can you?), Daenerys Targaryen\u00a0(Khaleesi) knows how to get what she wants and does it without flinching any fret; no one’s keeping her dethroned. She holds a lot of power and she’s awakened to it. \u00a0Oh, and\u00a0don’t forget about her devouring that horse heart and how she overcame being a sexualized victim and all.<\/p>\n
